Hemlock Park Improvements: A Welcome Addition to Mecosta County

Hemlock Park, nestled in the heart of Big Rapids, continues to evolve, bringing exciting new updates that will benefit both residents and visitors. This beloved park has long been a cornerstone of cherished memories for the community, and the latest improvements are set to enhance its appeal even further.
Hemlock Park has seen growth and improvement with each passing year. For many, including myself, the opening of Playscape in 1996 was a pinnacle moment in childhood. It offered endless possibilities for imagination and play. When I became a mother, I was thrilled that my children could share in that same wonderment. And with these new additions and improvements I am thrilled again that in the future my children will have even more to share with theirs. 

Recent Enhancements
Last year, the city began making significant improvements to Hemlock Park, adding pickleball courts and an accessible kayak launch and updating other areas of the park. These additions have already increased the magic of the park, drawing more visitors and providing new opportunities for outdoor activities
New Accessible Playscape and Splashpad
The latest enhancements include the completion of an accessible playscape and a splashpad. These additions are not just about fun; they are also strategic investments that will positively impact tourism in Mecosta County. Families from neighboring areas will be drawn to Big Rapids to explore these new recreational facilities. These new visitors are likely to extend their stay, enjoying other local attractions, dining options, and shops, which in turn will boost the local economy and support our small businesses just a few short blocks away from the park.
